Printing History

This is just a website that I had found online about some famous typographers.  (Of the most interesting is the name of the person who created the first italic typeface in history)  Just something to show where this wonderful thing called type came from and the history behind the process.

The Typograph of Jennifer Whitty

While I was searching for type online, I came across an individual's website by the name of Jennifer Whitty. I almost brushed the sight aside when I realized that the compositions posted there were actually captivating. Based on the information posted on her sight, she is a typographer coming from Newton Massachusetts. Nothing else is said of her age or experience, but her work speaks for itself. She puts the words simplicity is beauty to the test and passes with ease. Her work is very clean an polished and her use of type is very much the same. Amongst her posted works are various poster designs, logos, letterheads, and business card ideas (All of which have a very unique feel to them). I feel that by looking at examples of her work, aspiring graphic artists can know what are some acceptable compositions in the art world.

Typography and the Blogging World

Well, this is my first experience with blogging of any nature, but I'm certain it will be a good one. Typography is a field of graphic design which I feel I have much to learn. I started looking into type a year behinds schedule. But, since I've started learning about it, I've grown in appreciation of the skills that I've acquired. I'm truly looking forward to this semester and the tasks that I will learn to complete.
